Michael Shieh was born in California, but spent his childhood in Taiwan. He returned to the U.S. for high school and university and went to Beijing to earn his MBA in accounting and finance from Peking University. Michael is fluent in Mandarin and specializes in Chinese business owners. Michael understands how devastating it can be for someone to work hard all their life, do well, make a fortune and then lose it all.
His father was a highly successful businessman in the early 1990's, however the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis wiped out nearly all of Michael's father's wealth. This loss destroyed his father's self-esteem and resulted in a huge "fall from grace" in the eyes of his family, friends and associates, which he never really recovered from financially and emotionally.
Michael believes "Successful entrepreneurs who are in the right place at the right time and make fortunes because of it are far more adept at making money than they are keeping it."
This personal experience of seeing his father earn and then lose substantial fortune compelled Michael to learn everything about financial planning and become a financial professional.
